Gary Lineker, former English national and current ‘Match of the Day’ Anchorman, believes Liverpool should ‘sell Phillipe Coutinho’.
Speaking on BT Sport’s coverage of the Champions League qualifying match between Liverpool and Hoffenheim, in which the Reds eased past their opponents with four goals to the German side’s two ( 6-3 on aggregate), Gary spoke about how Coutinho wasn’t needed by Liverpool and that they should consider selling the Brazilian playmaker.
Barcelona have seen 3 bids rejected by the Merseyside club despite Coutinho handing in a transfer request. Lineker believes Liverpool seem to have his position covered and the club should use the money (they will receive from Barcelona) and invest it in players they require like Virgil Van Dijk and Naby Keita.
Liverpool great Steven Gerrard replied by saying “We need two good players in every position,”
“Two good players in every position, you know that.”
Liverpool’s reluctance to sell Coutinho will be tested yet again as Barcelona are expected to come back with a fourth bid worth £138million.
The Spanish giants have already completed the signing of Dembele from Dortmund but are not looking to stop just there.
Nice’s Seri and Liverpool’s Coutinho are expected to sign before the window ends in 3 days.
