Man Utd Ready To Sign Arjen Robben As Perisic Deal Fades

Manchester United have been trying to secure a deal for Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan all summer and it now looks like any hope of that deal being completed are fading fast.

United have been stubborn in their bidding and are refusing to move upwards from their top offer of £40 million, despite Inter claiming they will not accept anything below £5om for the attacking midfielder.

In the past 24 hours it appears that Manchester United have been following another lead in case the deal for Perisic is 100% ruled out.

Reports suggest that United have approached Bayern Munich around the availability of winger Arjen Robben.

We understand that Bayern would be willing to allow Robben, now 33 to leave this summer for the right price as they know the player is coming to the final stages of his career and believe they can cash in on the winger who scored 16 goals in 37 appearances last season.

Robben is understood to be interested in the deal as he searches for one final challenge at the end of his career.

United boss Jose Mourinho has history with Robben as the pair worked together for 2 years at Chelsea in 2004.

United have recruited well this summer but Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to add an attacking winger to his squad for the new season.

Mourinho said recently:

“We got a central defender that can play in many other positions, which is important. Victor can play right-back and can play central midfield.”

“We got a central midfielder, we got a striker.”

“Obviously the 25 per cent would be a player for another position, playing from the sides.”

“But we have players and if we cannot strengthen the team in these areas, we have people that we can trust and we go for it.”

It remains to be seen what value Bayern will place on Robben’s head but this could be a deal that moves very quickly.

United fans, would you welcome Arjen Robben signing for your club? Is is a good move or should the club be looking to bring in younger players.
