It’s our understanding that Chelsea are set to complete the signing of 22-year-old Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente before the transfer deadline closes on Thursday.
Chelsea who sold Nemanja Matic to rivals Manchester United this summer have so far failed to replace their key holding midfielder and Conte is believed to be keen to bring in Llorente before the window slams shut.
La Liga fans will know all about Marcos Llorente as he was one of the star players in the league last season where he spent the season on loan at Alaves from Real Madrid.
Still only 22 years old he has over 42 first team appearances in La Liga as well as playing 11 games for the Spanish youth teams.
He is a combative and hard working midfielder who snaps away in the middle of the field to win the ball back for his side and was even deployed to mark Lionel Messi out of a game against Barcelona which he did to great effect.
Despite being one of Spain’s brightest prospects he is struggling to find first team appearances at Real due to the sheer amount of quality that they already have in their squad and so is keep to make the move to kick-start his career with regular first team football.
From my point of view I think this would be a very clever bit of business for Conte if he can seal the deal with a fee of around £20-25m likely to be enough to secure his services.
Chelsea fans, would you like to see Llorente join your club? Real Madrid fans would you be sad to see him leave?
