Chelsea have joined Liverpool in their chase for Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, according to the Metro.
The English national has entered the final year of his contract and any advancements by Arsenal to extend the contract have been turned down by the player’s representatives.
Since Arsenal made a formation switch to the 3-5-3, Chamberlain has seen game time more regularly than previous seasons, proving his versatility by playing as a central midfielder when required but featuring more as the Gunners right wing back.
Chamberlain scored 6 goals and provided 11 assists last season
The “Ox” has mentioned he prefers to play in a more central position but considering the Gunners current midfield line up, it would be difficult to break through in the center of the park.
Jurgen Klopp is believed to be a huge admirer of the 23-year-old and has offered him an exit route. RB Leipzig are reluctant to let Naby Keita leave thus Klopp may instead pursue Chamberlain despite Oxlade’s more offensive style of play compared to Keita’s defensive play.
Chelsea are also believed to be readying a bid worth £35 million as several reports are suggesting Belgian national Eden Hazard may be off to Real Madrid this summer if the Galacticos fail to land Kylian Mbappe.
